Dive Instructor & Co-Founder of Reef of Hope
Friso Jankowsky is a seasoned dive instructor with a profound connection to the Red Sea's underwater tapestry. With over 750 dives, particularly in the Red Sea, his hands have guided many through the wonders that lie beneath the waves. As the co-founder of Reef of Hope, Friso combines his extensive practical diving experience with a deep-seated passion for marine conservation.
His journey began with a love for the ocean's mysteries and a desire to share its beauty with the world. This passion led to a certification in dive instruction, through which Friso has not only taught the art of diving but also instilled a sense of stewardship for the marine environment in his students.
Friso's expertise was put to the test when he deployed the first "proof of concept" coral nursery tree in Sharm El Sheikh. This pioneering effort laid the groundwork for what would become the Reef of Hope project. His hands-on approach and innovative thinking have been pivotal in demonstrating the viability of coral nurseries in challenging environments.
Beyond the dive sites, Friso is an advocate for the ocean, engaging in outreach to educate and inspire a wider audience about the importance of coral reefs and the threats they face. His leadership and vision have been instrumental in rallying support for reef restoration, not just in Sharm El Sheikh but around the world.
At Reef of Hope, Friso Jankowsky is not just a diver; he's a beacon for change, illuminating the path toward a sustainable future for our oceans. His dedication to the project is a testament to his belief that every effort counts when it comes to preserving our planet's precious marine ecosystems.
